Continuing with my theme of finding value in everything, these quandong seeds are of particular value to me because of the little girl who gave them to me.
I have developed a bit of a reputation as a ‘crazy seedpod lady’ and often gasp when I stumble across a particularly bumper crop of beautiful seeds and seedpods. There is a mental list a mile long in my head of all the best places to forage particular seeds, and seedpods around Brisbane.
One day, as I was dropping my daughter to a friend's house I commented at the beautiful quandong seeds scattered over her driveway. The next day at school drop-off who should come skipping up to me with her sweaty little hands full of precious cargo in the form of carefully selected driveway quandongs but sweet, earnest, Harriet.
I knew I needed to honour this treasure properly. I love the balance that the clear, glass balls strike against the spiky hardness of the seeds balanced opposite them.
