Lately I have been obsessed with the idea of rarity and value. It seems absurd the way we place value on certain things. I’m thoroughly enjoying playing around with items that I find beautiful and immensely valuable (either because of the memories they hold or the uniqueness of their appearance) and pairing them with classically ‘valuable’ pieces.
These earrings combine, copper offcuts which I have heat treated to draw out the beautiful, natural patina of the material, jade rounds, brass hoops and driftwood held together with a 6-in-1 chainmaille weave of aluminium jump rings leftover from a previous project. The aluminium keeps these show-stopping earrings at a wearable weight.
Reducing waste, finding beauty in nature and waste and combining unusual objects in unusual ways adds value to them all if for no other reason than that making and designing these earrings brought me immense joy.
Findings are stainless steel.
